PUL-PISCINA URBANA DE LOGROÑO

Urban intervention for Concentrico 09.

First Award [Concentrico 09]

We want to introduce you to PUL, the new Urban Pool of Logroño. Unlike other pools, PUL is versatile, an installation where rules are not written, and the emphasis is on spontaneity and free appropriation of the  interior space.

This ephemeral pool is located in the Plaza de las Escuelas Trevijano and integrates with existing elements, surrounding the large central tree. The square and its urban furniture are rigid and have a defined functionality, designed for transit and brief stops, becoming a harsh and unfriendly space for social interaction.

The new Urban Pool of Logroño aims to enclose a section of the square to create a new soft public space inside, a comfortable area for leisure and care.

PUL is modular, collapsible, and easily transportable, so it can soften other squares in the city in the future. It consists of 39 wooden modules, shaped like mobile containers, each housing 3 yoga balls inside.

By aggregating these modules, the pool area is defined, allowing users to decide how full it is and what activities will take place through the spontaneous release of the yoga balls inside.

Thus, PUL will have different states, and its condition will vary depending on the users or the activity intended. However, the goal will always be the same: to bring the comfort of home to the outdoor public space, blurring  the boundaries between private living and collective space, making care and comfort a shared experience.
