First Award [Europan 16. Living Cities]
Urban design, natural environment, and energy are at the core of the proposal, surpassing the traditional conflict between city and nature. The Norwegian city is conceived and designed not only for humans but also for the animals and plants that inhabit it. Thus, Hello, Woods! cares for and enhances each of Levanger’s natural urban ecosystems and cycles, such as the river and fjord fronts or the forests and parks, both inside and outside the urban core.
Hello, Woods! activates and revitalizes the historic ‘Wooden Town’ through new urban elements that occupy the space, now public, with a cultural, participatory, and intergenerational program.
In this way, a new holistic planning is developed that turns Levanger into a living ecosystem where natural, social, and urban realities coexist in peace and harmony.
