In a village in the heart of La Mancha, Paterna de la Madera, a refuge is designed as a dreamlike place, aware of its belonging to the local environment and capable of integrating into it.
Its minimal dimensions contrast with the overwhelming landscape that surrounds it, functioning as a small space that provides shelter to tourists and visitors during snowy winters and summer heat. The applied bioclimatic and sustainable strategies are based on the reproduction of local construction techniques, such as stone walls, wooden roof, and insulation from natural and locally sourced materials.
Externally, the project is executed with simple and figurative lines, emphasizing the roof resolved in a single slope and with a single material: tiles. The interior of the refuge is configured as a unique multifunctional space, open to be used with freedom and flexibility.
